For instance, a body builder would require a diet that is high in protein and low in carbohydrates. This diet would allow the body cells to repair and rebuild themselves faster.
When a person decides to increase his or her fitness, this high-protein, low-carbohydrate diet is highly recommended. It is a low-carb diet because the body requires carbohydrates to provide energy for everyday activities, thus a small amount of pasta, brown rice, brown bread, potatoes and cereals should be incorporated in the diet. The intake of at least five to six portions of fruits and vegetables are encouraged to provide the vitamins required by the body everyday. Each portion should be approximately seventy to eighty grams each. It is absolutely important to consume fruits that are rich in Vitamin C such as guavas, citrus fruits (oranges, strawberries, etc) as the body does not possess the ability to product this vitamin. Vegetables such as broccoli and cabbages are also highly recommended.
