Good Workout for Abs

June 18, 2009 by admin

One thing you will realise once you start training your abs is that you will need a variety of different exercises that will train your upper and lower abs. You really won’t get anywhere by just doing 1 or 2 different exercises.

So you’ll need a good workout for abs that has exercises to meet this criteria. One of these exercises will almost certainly be a crunch of some kind.

You almost certainly know what a basic crunch is. It is basically a regular sit up. These are great at strengthening the abs in general and gives a stronger core to the body.

But there are actually several variations to the basic crunch that can be done just as easily but will greatly increase the size of your abs. The first one of these is the reverse crunch. In this exercise you keep your upper body completely still and flat and lift up your knees and buttocks in the air. So it is basically a complete reverse to the normal crunch.

The V lift or full crunch is another great variation. With this one you lift your upper body and lower body at the same time so there’s only your back touching the floor. You basically try and touch your toes with your hands whilst keeping your arms and legs straight. This works the abs more effectively than the normal crunch.

A good workout for abs will contain these variations and also other exercises such as leg lifts, Captain’s Chair and even chin ups. Work a different area each day which allows you to really intensify your training.

Don’t forget about eating the right foods and doing some cardio work too. You’re going to have to lose some fat if you want a six pack that you can actually see!
