Good Exercises for Abs

June 16, 2009 by admin

If you’re going to go to the trouble of trying to build yourself a six pack, then you owe it to yourself to learn good exercises for abs development.

Otherwise you might waste hours and hours in the gym and not get any results at the end of it.

And we don’t want that do we?

Of course we don’t. And with the correct knowledge and advice we won’t let that happen.

So what are good exercises for the abs?

Well the first and most common one is the basic crunch otherwise known as the sit up. It is easy to do and very good at working the lower abs especially. Just lie flat on your back, place your hands by the side of your head, lift your knees slightly and pull up your upper body. Don’t raise all the way up as just lifting your shoulders off the ground is enough to be working the abs.

Another good exercise for the abs is called the abdominal hold or chair lift. Again it’s very easy to perform and all you need is a stable chair to do it. Sit on the edge of the chair and put your hands down on the edge of the chair with your fingers pointing outwards. Lift your whole body, including your feet, off the ground and hold it for a few seconds whilst crunching your ab muscles. This exercise might take a bit of getting used to but is worth all the trouble.

Even though they may seem too simple, these really are good exercises for abs development. Just try to include a variation of them into your programme and work all areas of the abs, the upper abs, lower abs and oblique areas.
