Abs Exercise Tips

June 16, 2009 by admin

It is a common misconception that to get six pack abs you need to exercise your abs constantly. Yet the truth is that to show your abs you need to lose fat and just working your abs solely isn’t going to do that. Sure abs exercise is needed but there is so much more that is involved.

To lower your body fat percentage, thus losing belly fat, you’ll need to burn as many calories as you can. So doing exercises that burn a lot of calories will make you lose more weight.

By concentrating on the large muscle groups like the legs and chest area, this helps to burn more calories.

So start off your abs workout with squats. Yes, doesn’t quite seem right does it? But it’s a great exercise for burning fat. The squat uses your legs and back, so naturally uses a lot of calories whilst doing the exercise. The more calories you burn, your metabolism gets boosted even further and the fat will begin to shift.

Next you can include chin ups in your routine. These are great for working the upper body and you’ll also be strengthening the abdominal area. Try to do as many as you can before resting and repeating the exercise. If you don’t have access to a chin up bar, they can be purchased quite cheaply and will fit in any standard door frame.

Finally, can you skip? No, we’re not asking you to go back to school here but skipping is an awesome exercise for burning calories. You’re using your upper and lower body during the skipping and can burn many calories in a fast period of time.

So, abs exercise is more than just working the abs. By lowering your overall body fat percentage you’ll see those abs start to shine through!
